"If there's anything you take away from Isis, let it be the power of the human spirit when put to positive ends. And I really felt like that's what we wanted to do. We wanted to make music that made us feel something, that made us feel connected to the fact that we're alive. In a lot of ways, I think people think about music as being just entertainment – and it is that, and there are bands that are wholly that – but I also feel like there is something, for a lack of a better word, spiritual about music that's made with really pure intentions, that tries to tap into something deeper to get to a level of consciousness that goes beyond the everyday, mundane kind of stuff. That's all I really ever wanted to do in Isis – to get to that level."
